Hermès: Twilly d’ Hermès

Categories:Other Brands

If there’s one thing Hermès does well, it’s bags. And printed silks. Ok, there’s also jewellery and shoes and even SLGs. Ok, let me rephrase this. Hermès does many things exceedingly well, so when they launch something new, everyone sits up and takes notice. Take the new Twilly d’ Hermès fragrance for example, created by Christine Nagel who’s the in-house perfumer of the French luxury label. Her third fragrance after Eau De Rhubarbe Ecarlate and Galop d`Hermès, this scent is perfect for the young, the young at heart and everyone else who believes that a life well-lived is one that has no boundaries and the freedom to do what you choose.

Encapsulated within the reimagined (and iconic) lantern bottle that was deliberately ‘cut into half’, much like the young girl who raids her mother’s wardrobe and literally alters the clothes within to her own liking, this scent is for the lady who marches to her own beat. And like the emblematic silk twilly that it was named after, you don’t just wear it one way. You can wear it however you choose, all in the spirit of taking something and making it truly your own.

And because it is an Hermès scent, you’ll already know it will be a unique one, with ginger, tuberose and sandalwood coming together to form a scent that starts sweet but gradually matures into a fragrance that only gets better when it is enhanced by the warmth of your skin. The lively spiciness of ginger, the feminine elegance of tuberose and the tender milkiness of sandalwood, all beautifully woven together with a personality much like the young girl of today who’s playful, individual and almost irreverent.

Available in Singapore from 28 August 2017, the Twilly d’ Hermès EDP is priced at SGD107 for 30 ml, SGD159 for 50 ml and SGD221 for 85 ml.

Categories:Other Brands

Hermes-Compact-Constant-Wallet

Owning a wallet is just as important as owning a stylish bag. With the big success of the Compact Constance Wallet, Hermes thought of a way of creating a more compact and space-saving wallet by introducing its Compact Compass Wallet.

A short and mini wallet version of the well-loved Constance, the Compact Compass Wallet proves to be a daily essential in every woman’s bag. At first glance, you will instantly notice its gold plated ‘H’ tab closure, which lends it a sense of style and security all at the same time. Mind you, it also practical, convenience and easy-access. Despite the smaller size, this particular luxurious wallet has a lot to offer. So let’s dive into the interior.

Due to the demands of a modern-day hard working woman, the French brand made sure that this wallet will provide ease in bringing your hard earned money and plastic cards in a stylish manner. Inside, it has 4 credit card slots, 2 flat pockets, a change purse with zipper so it can hold your coins in place, and an external pocket at the back for easy access. It has everything you need to structure your daily wallet.

By the way, the Hermes Constance Wallet is as iconic as the Kelly Wallet. This design has existed for a very long time. So what’s more classic than that?

Measuring 4.6” x 7” inches and is priced $6250 USD via Hermes boutiques.

Hermes, Givenchy, D&G and more here are the most expensive and lust worthy fall 2016 handbags

Categories:Other Brands

Clothes may come and go but bags are for life! Long after your seasonal outfits have lost their fashion currency, your bags will remain a solid investment with their staying power. That’s why even experts are impressed by the way Birkins seem to double and triple in value over time. This season, smart shoppers should make a savvy style choice with a couple of investment bags instead of trendy outfits. But as you know “investment” is just another word for splurge! Purseblog’s Amanda Mull has put together a list of the season’s most expensive bags that will have you reaching for your credit card in no time. These bags are big on color and embellishments and swagger, not for the shrinking violets!

Dolce-and-Gabbana-Enchanted-Clock-Box-Bag
Dolce & Gabbana Enchanted Clock Box Bag – USD$13000
With a fantasy clock motif, a snakeskin trim and a dreamy star pattern, this bag reminds us of a few of our favorite fairy tales. It comes with a leather lining, removable mirror and shiny gold hardware. A classic boxy shape and a top handle make this one of the prettiest bags of the season. Whether you wear it out for a magical day or an enchanted evening, this adorable accessory should be on your must-have list this fall. Purseblog named it the most expensive embellished bag of the season.

Fendi-Calf-Hair-Peekaboo-Bag
Fendi Peekaboo Large Calf Hair Satchel Bag – $7,250
Fendi’s second contribution to this list is their exquisite calf hair Peekaboo bag. This handbag style has an enduring appeal which is magnified by this design which uses dyed calfhair leather. The top handle bag features a rich brown leather lining to contrast with the multicolored exterior. It’s roomy 12″H x 16″W x 6″D dimensions means that you can fearlessly store all your essentials in here and still have space to stash some extras.

Givenchy-Python-Antigona-Bag
Givenchy Python Antigona Bag – $9,150
We can’t get enough of this neo classic bag with its intriguing shape and its contrasting combination of exotic python, lizard, ayers, ostrich, crocodile, and goat skins. From the sleek structured shape to the palladium hardware and the top handles, everything about this bag screams “Boss”. We love the idea of this as a work bag for a lady in charge, but it’s also great for casual days out when you want your accessories to do the talking.

Hermes-Jypsiere-Bag
Hermès Jypsiere Bag – $9,750
Hermès’ chic take on the messenger bag is available in a riot of colors. Red, blue, green burgundy, you name it and Hermès has got it. The front swivel clasp reminds us of other Hermès classics like the Kelly and Birkin, but this design is much more casual and fun. We also love the fact that this is a unisex bag that you can shamelessly steal from your boyfriend whenever the mood strikes!

The-Row-Alligator-Two-for-One-12-Bag
The Row Alligator Two for One 12 Bag – $42,000
The Olsen twins’ bags always seem completely exorbitant right up until you remember that Birkins can sell for millions at auction. This sunny yellow croc leather bag features flat alligator handles a detachable shoulder strap and even a small matching pouch. Wear it like the Olsens would, with a relaxed black maxi dress and oversized sunglasses.

The-Row-Sling-15-Ostrich-Bag
The Row Sling 15 Ostrich Leather Hobo Bag – $11,500
This ostrich hobo bag is already sold out at Neiman Marcus and it’s hardly a surprise. From the slouchy crescent shape to the shoulder strap with cutouts, there’s nothing we don’t love about this bohemian handbag. Its features include a supple leather trim, decorative tassels and gold tone hardware. This relaxed shape is usually more of a summer pick, but be rebellious (as the Olsens would be!) by pairing it with leather leggings and a chunky knit sweater.

CATHERINE B: QUEEN OF VINTAGE CHANEL AND HERMES, PARIS

Categories:Other Brands

IMG_6989

By Chere Di Boscio

“So few people truly understand what I do,” sighs Catherine B whilst exhaling yet another cigarette. “This is not a consignment store. This is something different”.

That ‘something different’ is an Aladdin’s treasure cave packed with collectable Chanel and Hermes pieces, on which Catherine is an expert. She can tell a real piece from pirated one more so than many retail directors in the fashion houses themselves. “There are many things to watch for,” she says. “And some fakes today are good…very good. But I know. I just know”.

IMG_6989

This savvy collector stocks the most elusive bags, jackets, scarves and shoes from the 30’s to the 90’s, but not beyond. She’s not interested in being a depot for the unwanted bags of fickle rich girls; instead, she sees her shop as half museum, half retail store. “Some people can’t understand why I am charging more for a 2.55 bag than the listed price in a Chanel boutique”, she continues. “But it is because the 2.55 I am carrying is a one-of-a-kind piece designed by Mademoiselle Chanel herself, that cannot be found anywhere else in the world!”

Indeed, some of her stock is so rare, it isn’t even for sale. Take her Chanel bicycle, for instance. One of about a hundred left on the planet, it features two sidesaddle ‘handbags’ and the signature Chanel quilting not only on the bags, but on the seat as well. She also owns the original Birkin bag from Hermes. It boasts the initials JB and is numbered 0—it being the first. It also features a strap created at Ms Birkin’s request: “She wanted to be able to put it on her shoulder while she looked for things inside the bag,” explains Catherine.

Her amicable husband assures me that there are many more treasures cached around the store. “She will only show them to people who are truly interested”, he tells me. But when Catherine finds those people who share her enthusiasm and love for vintage Chanel and Hermes, it makes her day–even if there’s no sale.

Hermes-blue-and-yellow-scarf

Catherine explains she would love to share her enthusiasm for these collectable designer pieces in a modern venue, like Harrods Department store, because she believes the English have a better appreciation for all things vintage than the French, who are more likely to use accessories that were passed down through the generations rather than buying vintage pieces themselves. ‘It’s all about heritage,’ she says.

Hermes Increases Prices in Europe

Categories:Other Brands

DSC04462 - Version 2

Hermes, St Tropez France

We here at PurseBop have been the leaders at giving you price changes and news affecting our leading luxury handbag designers. To help keep you in the know, PurseBop createdhandbag math to further investigate price shifts across the world. On January 5th, prices for the Hermes goods sold in the countries subscribing to the Euro have increased. There is no word on a US price increase as of yet. Typically, January is the month that price changes would take affect here in the US.

Let’s take a close look at the pricing events over 2015:
  • Volatile financial conditions in 2015 lead to a fluctuating Euro
  • Due to fluctuating currencies, Chanel increased prices in Europe to narrow the price gap between countries (Read: Global Price Implications on Chanel Street)
  • Hermes did not follow suit and did not increase their European prices to compensate for the devalued euro. Read: Hermes Declines to Follow Chanel’s Lead)
  • In fact, Hermes decreased their prices on many accessories here in the US as a way to narrow the pricing gap. (Read: Hermes Reduces Accessory Prices in the US)

As of January 5th 2016, Hermes has increased their prices in Europe across the board ranging from 3% to 11% depending upon style and material. Take note of some of the price changes below:

After Chanel’s price shift last year, Axel Duma’s reconfirmed Hermes’ intentions to maintain loyalty to their domestic consumer base:

“We have a very strong French and European customer base. If we significantly increased our prices at this juncture, that would mean giving up on local customers and that is something we do not want to do.”

Dumas remarks prove to hold true this year too. Instead of radically increasing prices to compensate for the devalued euro like Chanel, Hermes only adjusted prices to reflect normal, annual increase.

PurseBop wonders: Is it possible that Hermes will not increase prices here in the states in further efforts to decrease the gap between Europe and the US ? For now we can only hope…
